And I have spotify, but I would like something that can access my locally stored play along and backing tracks that spotify does not have, and play them via the fire TV boxĪnd then maybe also explore what the Nvidia shield TV box can do with Dlna.Ītc98092 wrote:Well, there's quite a price difference between a Fire TV and the Nvidia Shield.

I can test push anything from my android tablets to fire TV with the easy fire tools app, to see if they work. I am open for suggestions for other music player apps to try on fire TV that can use serviigo dlna service Mx player needs touch screen or virtual mouse. So conclusions so far, vlc for fire is useless, serviigo works but that's more more of a a video app. Hence the try with serviio as that is much better behaved and has all my music already indexed. I could of course do everything in plex on the fire TV but I decided long ago not not let plex servers access my mp3 collections, as plex goes overboard with creating huge amounts of metadata files and can swamp a ssd drive with all of that I will see if I can push the serviigo android app to the fire tV and/or the bubble Pnp app that I own somewhere, while I wait for feedback.Īs I say, I am 99% sure it's not a serviiio bug. Is this a dead end or am I missing a cunning trick or two

VLC on fire tv cant get to the shared folders directly on my PC either - it sees my PC as SMB but cannot then find anything I suspect its because amazon don't rally like DLNA on their fire TV or that VLA is badfly coded. but everything below that is "no data" or "empty folder" I can get serviio to work with fire tablets using the matching android app, but on th gen 3 Fire TV I try with VLC - it says there is a Serviio DLNA server - good - it offers the expected choices, albums, artists, videos.

I'm going to be able to spend more time on ServiiGo now, so once i've got my current high priority tasks done I can revist DLNA control point support and plan how and when to do it.They say curiosity killed the cat but I wanted to see what if anything my fire TV could do, as I have a serviio pro PC server on my LAN Unfortunately its requires quite a lot of work in order to get right, which is why its been ignored for a while now.Ĭasting is very similar, but only a few devices support it. I'm not sure if I'm describing an enhancement to ServiiGo, or if I just don't have the right playback video app installed on my phone. There's nothing wrong with that extra capability, as long as it's not _required_ to keep the app running for the duration of the video playback. I thought the above was called "casting", but I've seen discussions of "casting" that involve continued control of the TV with the app. It's important of course that Serviio sees the TV or BD player as the renderer, and uses its profile to decide its capabilities and whether transcoding is required, etc. This implies that I also don't care to have the phone app be able to control the TV in any way (pause, RWD, etc) once the playback is started.

I would like to be able to exit and have the video keep playing. The problem is that for both of these programs, the video stops playing on the TV if I exit the app and exit ServiiGo, turn off the phone, leave the house, etc. If I browse my Serviio videos with ServiiGo and press its Play button, I'm offered several video apps, two of which have the capability to play the video on my devices (2 Sony BD players, a Sony TV and a Samsung TV): BubbleUPnP and "Video Player" (which is either an Android app or Samsung app?). What I do now is find a video to watch using ServiiGo, but launch it using the DLNA feature built into the TV or BD player.

My main Serviio server is on WinXP (but seldom-used instances also on Win7 and Linux). My phone is a Galaxy Note II running Android 4.4.2. I've been pouring through this forum and the bitbucket Issue list, and I'm not sure if what I'm wanting has already been requested.
